Different Parenting StylesDifferent parenting styles have been found in psychology aspects. Yet, whether you believe it or not they all have their own advantages and disadvantages. Do you want to know the four different parenting styles? Just take a look at the following information then.

Four Different Parenting Styles

Authoritative parent is one among four different parenting styles. That kind of parenting style has clear hopes for their tikes. They have limits and boundaries of behaviors. The rules are talked and rationale is understood. They are assertive. They harmonize their needs for cooperation and compliance with their kid’s need to explore and test boundaries.

Parents with this parenting style value responsibility and individuality, as well as self-esteem through self-control. The tikes from this kind of parenting are a joy for their teachers and buddies. They have good social skills and are skilled in life. They behave maturely, and become successful, responsible adults. That is why among those four different parenting styles, authoritative style is very much preferable.

Authoritarian parent is the second among those different parenting styles. This different parenting style can best be explained by either “my way or the highway” or “because I said so” attitude toward their tikes. They have a lot of rules, which are strictly supported, with no explanation provided for the rules. According to Baumrind (the most important researcher into this field of study) authoritarian parents “are obedience- and status-oriented, and hope their orders to be obeyed without explanation.”

Tikes from this kind of parenting tend to perform reasonably well in school and not having problem behavior. Yet, they have weak social skills, lower self-esteem, and they are more appropriate to suffer from depression.

Permissive parent is the third different parenting styles. They raise their tikes with a dissimilar parenting style that can merely be explained as a “hands off” method. They have no rules, routine, or boundaries, for dread of stifling creativity and exploration. They don’t need their tikes to have mature behavior, and let their tikes to have almost all the control. These parents keep away from confrontation at all costs.

Unfortunately children from this parenting style will have more tendencies to be involved in bothersome behavior at school. Yet, children from this style of parenting will have good self-esteem and social skill.

Neglectful parenting is the fourth different parenting styles. Dissimilar to the other different parenting styles, in this type the parent has, in essence, just “checked out” of the relationship. They in general take care of the kid’s basic needs. Yet, there is no love or interest displayed to the kid. It is alike to permissive parenting with the love and interest taken out of the picture. This dissimilar style of parenting is also recognized as “uninvolved parenting,” and it can include both rejecting-neglecting and basic neglectfulness. In this condition, the kid grows up bodily but can be lacking in self-esteem and connectedness to the parents. Among the four different parenting styles, this type is the worst one.

The fourth style shows that the children will likely to give no contact with their parents in their mature time. Finally, you have known all about the four different parenting styles.
